Q: How did Joseph get into photography? A: I chose photography as a career back in highschool. As soon as I graduated I took tons of graphic design, art history and photography courses in college. At the same time, I was researching which photography studio I should work for, and when I settled on one, applied there THREE TIMES (I wouldn't take "no" for an answer). After apprenticing under a Master of Photography, I started a company which I humbly named after myself, "Josephotography". Anyway, my training is in formal portraiture, but over the years, I’ve adopted a more fashion feel to my photography. Q: What is "Documentary" photography? A: Many people have heard of photojournalism, which is currently popular. Photojournalism has a long history that dates back to the beginning of the photographic medium. A photojournalist’s job is to tell a story or convey an idea through pictures. To do this, a photojournalist will likely pose or direct action to create a candid look. A documentary photographer, however, will use education and experience to be in the right place at the right time to capture the moment. The difference is a truly uncontrived, candid image. At Josephotography, we believe that better, more natural images occur when the subject is less aware of the photographer. The second photographer in our two-photographer packages shoots in documentary style and captures uncontrived moments that occur between the bride and groom, their families and the wedding party. Q:
How long have you been in business?
